Job summary

Tallahassee State College (TSC) is seeking a Career Development Specialist at Lowell Correctional Institution in Florida. This full-time, grant-funded role supports Compass 100 Hybrid and in-cell assignments to prepare inmates for reentry through the Transition Skills Program and related services.

The successful candidate will administer assessments, deliver the 100-Hour Transition Skills Program, document services, and coordinate with pre-release employment navigators and community providers.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or high school diploma is required, plus two years of relevant experience.
• Two years of professional experience in workforce development, social services or corrections.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and data entry.

Responsibilities

• Administration and interpretation of assessments.
• Delivery of the 100-Hour Transition Skills Program curriculum.
• Delivery of other Department programs as directed.
• Documentation of services delivered.
• Monthly reporting of attendance, enrollments, and completions.
• Coordinate pre-release connections with community providers and employers.

Please ensure that the location you select is within the vicinity or the location you desire.****What You’ll Do** As a Career Development Specialist, you’ll play a key role in providing services related to Compass 100 Hybrid and supplemental in-cell assignments through cell-front instruction for eligible participants who are in restrictive housing as directed by the Lead Educator.Day-to-day, you’ll be responsible for:* Administration and interpretation of assessments;* Delivery of the 100-Hour Transition Skills Program curriculum;* Delivery of other programs as determined by the Department;* Maintaining and providing documentation of services delivered;* Reporting monthly attendance, program enrollments, and completions on the Department’s approved form, DC5-149 “Correctional Daily Attendance Roster” (Attachment #2);* Providing information pertaining to pre-release connections of community providers and employers for inmate release planning services to facility release officer’s; and* Assisting the Pre-Release Employment Navigators with hiring events, mock interviews, pre-release job search, recruitment, and readiness portfolio development through face-to-face and technology-based interactions.**Who We’re Looking For** We’re seeking a candidate who brings not only technical expertise but also a passion for education and student success.
