Jasper County School District's Career Development Facilitator at Hardeeville Junior/Senior High School coordinates career awareness, development, and exploration for middle and high school students.

Under general supervision, ensures the coordination, accountability, and delivery of Career Awareness, development, and career explorations. Works with students, parents, staff and administrators to meet the goals for the program. Reports to the Principal/s.
Education and/or Experience:
Provisional status letter for CDF Certification, CDF Certification, Certification as a Secondary Guidance Counselor or significant progress toward certification, three years of work experience. Master's Degree preferred. Must be able to effectively work with students, parents, staff and community members.
Knowledge:
Knowledge of the policies, procedures and activities of the school District which pertain to the specific duties and responsibilities of the position; knowledge concerning methods for developing lesson plans materials, and classroom activities which stimulate learning; knowledge of the records, forms and reports which must be prepared and maintained; knowledge of proper maintenance of equipment, materials and supplies used in daily activities; knowledge of counseling methods necessary for working to increase student achievement and student outcomes; knowledge of the materials and information which must be prepared for classroom instructional activities; extensive knowledge concerning all aspects of career development.
Skills/Efforts:
Ability to provide instruction to students through explanation, demonstration and/or supervised practice; ability to supervise students and maintain order in the classroom, on field study activities and special programs; strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills; ability to prepare lesson plans, tests, and instructional materials for classroom activities; ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, District staff, and all other groups involved in the activities of the job; ability to utilize all community resources for career development.
Working Conditions:
Conducts duties in a classroom environment with little exposure to environmental conditions; physical demands are restricted to classroom work requiring the lifting/moving of items weighing up to 10 pounds; occasional local travel is required; some overnight travel may be required.
