Job Summary:

We are currently seeking skilled and team-oriented applicants for the following position: Career Advisor. As a Career Advisor at The Region's Polytechnic, you will play a vital role in helping students identify their strengths, explore opportunities, and confidently navigate their academic and professional journeys. Through individualized coaching, innovative programming, and collaborative partnerships across campus, you will empower students to translate their education into impactful careers while advancing EWU's commitment to student success, belonging, and experiential learning.

Reporting to the Assistant/Associate Director-Career Services, the Career Advisor will serve as the liaison to one of EWU’s four colleges. The incumbent will manage the Career Center relationship with the assigned college and ensure that the college’s faculty, staff, and students are being served by the Career Center at a level consistent with the other three colleges.

The Career Advisor will represent the Career Center on both Cheney and Spokane campuses to provide general and program-specific career advising to current EWU students and alumni. This position will participate as a member of the career planning team to provide career assistance to EWU students and alumni, and will develop, manage, and implement educational resources for career development.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for student and alumni success as well as commitment to helping very diverse groups articulate and realize their goals.

The salary for this position is $55,000.

Conditions of Employment:

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others
  • Technologically proficient: strong computer skills including data knowledge
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing and in person, including one-onone advising, group facilitation, and delivering presentations to audiences with differing needs and backgrounds
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a responsive and flexible approach that is supportive of the needs including universal access of our students, faculty, staff and the public
  • Willingness to obtain CCSP (Certified Career Services Provider) credential within one year of hire
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree
  • Two years equivalent experience in higher education, preferably in career services, advising, or teaching capacities
  • Experience with online resource development
  • Experience building and maintaining productive relationships with stakeholders across the campus community
  • Current CCSP credential

Proposed Job Duties & Responsibilities

50% Responsibility / Duty

Provide career advising to EWU Students and alumni
  • Provide general and industry‑focused career advising services to students and alumni
  • Prepare students professionally for internships and full‑time professional employment
  • Assist students and alumni with use and troubleshooting the web‑based career management system
  • Maintain supervisor determined office hours at Cheney and/or Spokane campuses to serve a wide range of students and alumni
  • Provide on‑site services to assigned college to increase student engagement with career development resources
  • Create a presence within assigned college by acting as a liaison to faculty and staff, assisting them in developing career development components
  • Conduct workshops, networking events, or class presentations on career‑related topics: resumes, cover letters, interviewing tips, job search strategies, evaluating compensation, and professional development.
  • Provide on‑site services to other campus constituents (residence halls, SAIL, etc.) as needed which, may require alternative scheduling to coincide with student schedules
  • Document appointments

  • Support EWU’s Eagle Career Networking mentoring platform
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks
  • Collaborate with faculty to identify employers for potential internships and full‑time jobs to hand off to the employer relations team
  • Work occasional evenings and weekends to participate in scheduled campus events
