Overview
Beacon is a national behavioral health company providing residential-based services and supports to children and adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, Severe Mental Illness, Autism, and high-acuity behaviors. Activities related to this position must comply with the company’s policies and procedures, accreditation standards, state and federal licensing requirements, HCBS guidelines, and contractual requirements of Community Mental Health Agencies and other regulatory bodies. Responsibilities / Essential Functions
- Always be compliant with all company and regulatory policies and procedures.
- Operate assigned home(s) to meet company budgets and clinical effectiveness targets.
- Support and supervise Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), ensuring training and skills to provide high-quality care.
- Maintain assigned home(s) and ensure systems, facilities, and furnishings are in good working order.
- Assign repairs and maintenance duties to staff when possible; contact maintenance or direct supervisor for issues.
- Assist direct supervisor with contracting for approved services; direct and evaluate performance of contractors.
- Maintain cleanliness of assigned home(s) and vehicles by developing daily duties for each shift.
- Communicate daily with direct supervisor.
- Manage on-call responsibilities and report on-call hours as needed.
- Review or send important topics to direct supervisor for monthly home meetings.
- Prepare meeting rooms and schedule staff for meetings.
- Build positive relationships with referral sources, government and licensing agencies; assist in coordinating admissions when needed.
- Collaborate with Beacon leadership and various areas to improve operations, compliance, residential care, and employee performance.
- Maintain professional conduct and expect the same from home staff on duty.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the company.
Regulatory, Contractual, And Accreditation Compliance
- Contact direct supervisor if regulatory personnel arrive; cooperate with investigations; New Jersey employees must cooperate with DHS during inspections or investigations.
- Complete incident reports timely and file in the designated area; ensure CAP/POC actions are implemented accurately and timely.
- Assist with annual documentation updates for individuals served; inform supervisor of status changes requiring protocol updates.
- Ensure training and certifications meet licensing standards, recipient rights, and accrediting bodies.
- Communicate openly with state and local regulators as a reliable partner.
Census And Budget Responsibilities
- Collaborate to manage census, including leaves of absence, to meet or exceed budgeted revenue targets.
- Provide logs and documentation to supervisor in support of care provided.
- Manage home payroll costs through recruitment, scheduling, and monitoring trends affecting costs (e.g., no-shows, terminations, overtime).
- Manage the home budget, petty cash, and individual funds; ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Ensure accurate time-and-attendance and payroll reporting.
Staffing And Human Resources Responsibilities
- Keep supervisor informed of staffing changes or shortages; monitor scheduling and time worked against budget.
- Ensure open shifts are staffed and replacements are found as needed.
- Oversee residential care functions; collaborate with HR, Training and Recruiting for interviews, evaluations, separations, and training.
- Inform supervisor of personnel issues; complete COS when disciplinary action is determined.
- Conduct on-site training for DSPs and develop teams to support daily responsibilities.
- Notify employees of class schedules and locations; supervisor schedules, monitors, and tracks.
- Set goals and provide feedback on annual performance reviews; welcome new employees and provide orientation.
- Provide monthly check-ins with direct reports.
Clinical And Individuals Served Care Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the clinical team to maintain or improve health, safety, and stability of individuals served.
- Oversee activities and programs to enhance social, emotional, mental, and physical needs and increase home involvement and independence.
- Communicate with internal and external clinical, medical, and regulatory agencies as required.
- Ensure DSPs attend individuals’ functions and maintain person-centered plans.
- Assist individuals with skill-building and community activities.
- Review individuals’ status and ability to perform under contract terms; apply trauma-informed care and promote a trauma-informed culture.
Quality Assurance, Monitoring And Reporting
- Oversee administrative, clerical, clinical records, medication administration, transportation, and coordination of care at assigned sites.
- Complete fire and emergency drills; submit daily entries in the EHR.
- Monitor meals, kitchen sanitation, service quality, space cleanliness, and individual satisfaction.
- Ensure daily tasks are completed and report injuries within 24 hours to supervisor/HR.
- Conduct random home and vehicle inspections; document findings and communicate with leadership.
- Maintain HIPAA-compliant, confidential records for individuals served, prospective individuals, and employees.
- Respond promptly to needs, requests, concerns from individuals, families, community, and regulatory agencies.
- Protect privacy and security of medical records and confidential information.
- Promote Beacon values and maintain a safe community environment; cooperate with DHS and other regulators during inspections.

Education & Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of college coursework in business, social science, or related human service discipline preferred; high school diploma or GED required.
- 2-3 years’ leadership experience in healthcare or behavioral healthcare; 1-2 years’ management or supervisory experience preferred.
- Approved by state, federal, and government entities to work within BSLS programs; TB screenings and required trainings as applicable; criminal background checks; CARI/Department requirements (New Jersey).
- Excellent communication skills; problem-solving ability; core competencies in IDD services and mental health; attention to detail and multitasking; valid driver’s license; proficiency with IT and office software; ability to work with individuals with mental illness and co-occurring disorders; tolerance for exposure to aggression and infectious disease.
IT Systems Skills
Beacon uses Microsoft Office 365, HRIS, attendance/time clock systems, EHR/EMAR, Clarity, and other systems. The employee will learn and become proficient with these IT systems and any future BSLS deployments.

- Move about the home or community 50% of the time; may bend, squat, stand, kneel, push, pull, walk, and reach above shoulder; remain stationary 50% of the time.
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds; climb stairs multiple times per day.
- Operate computer and office equipment; prepare meals requiring oven/stove/microwave with overhead reaching.
- Complete laundry; grocery shopping with stairs; cleaning activities; provide personal care to Individuals Served; assist lifting up to 200 pounds; communicate with team; various vision and hearing requirements; manual dexterity for medication distribution.
Work Environment
- Work primarily in home or community settings; may involve non-cooperative individuals or health problems; stress and anxiety may occur.
- Moderate noise; exposure to cold, heat, dust, or smoke; potential for exposure to blood and bodily fluids; CPI interventions training required.
