Job summary

Mercy Health’s Lourdes Hospital is seeking a Care Companion to provide basic health care and patient support under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. You will help sanitize rooms, monitor vitals, assist with feeding and grooming, and support patients with daily activities.

Upholding compassionate care, you will create a safe environment, act as liaison between patients and nurses, and deliver high-quality service to patients, families, visitors and staff while adhering to hospital policies.

Qualifications

• BLS certification preferred; obtained before direct patient care.
• Recent experience in a healthcare environment preferred.
• Strong communication and compassionate patient care skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides support to the patient including care and comfort, personal care and hygiene, toileting, and mobility.
• Creates a safe environment for patients.
• Acts as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes or concerns.
• Provides high-level customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff.
• Participates in hand-offs/reports of pertinent information upon arrival and departure.
