Job summary

Hilo Benioff Medical Center, part of the East Hawaii Region of Hawai`i Health Systems Corporation, seeks dedicated healthcare staff to provide direct patient care and support activities of daily living in East Hawaii. The role supports patient comfort, safety, and well-being within a 24/7 hospital environment.

The prerequisite qualifications include English proficiency, BLS certification within six months, and experience in a health facility providing direct care and reporting patient

Qualifications

• Knowledge of personal hygiene and bodily care.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English; follow instructions.
• Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) to be obtained within six months of employment.
• One year of work experience in a health facility such as a hospital or similar institution.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and assistance with activities of daily living (bathing, toileting, dressing, grooming, feeding, mobility, transfers).
• Monitor and document vital signs, intake/output, and report changes to licensed nursing staff.
• Assist with routine clinical procedures under supervision (specimen collection, oxygen, enemas, ROM exercises).
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control protocols; assist with transportation, meals, and recreation.
• Communicate respectfully with patients and families; maintain confidentiality and participate in care planning and discharge processes.
