Job summary

Gorham House in Gorham, ME is seeking a caring Memory Care Assistant to provide companionship and daily living support for residents. Shifts include day and evening hours with a focus on preserving dignity and independence in activities of daily living.

You will engage residents in activities, assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding and mobility, and participate in group activities. A CNA/CHHA license may be required by state, and basic computer skills are expected.

Qualifications

• Experience with seniors with dementia and participation in activities preferred.
• Proficiency in English to communicate with staff and residents.
• May require a CNA or CHHA license depending on state.
• Basic computer skills; proficiency with Outlook, Excel and Word required.
• Compassionate, kind, engaging and helpful.
• Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
• Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization.
• Maintain a positive and friendly demeanor toward residents and coworkers.

Responsibilities

• Provide kind, caring, and consistent companionship and support to residents.
• Provide assistance, encouragement, and restorative interventions for Memory Care residents to be as independent as possible in ADLs (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding, mobility).
• Participate in and lead one on one and group activities.
• Serve residents during mealtime, assist with memory care laundry, and basic housekeeping within the memory care neighborhood.
• Ensure concerns from resident/family/employee receive timely response and follow up, striving for high customer satisfaction.
• Maintain a positive and professional demeanor toward all residents, visitors and co-workers.

Day Shifts - 6:30a-3p / Evening Shifts 2:30p-11p
