Job summary

Qualifications

• CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant or EMT/Paramedic with Florida license.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living including bathing, personal hygiene, nutrition and comfort measures, changing bed linens, and diapers.
• Take vital signs and other measurements; document results in the Electronic Health Record per nursing and hospital policies.
• Inform RN of relevant information and communicate significant changes in patient condition or behavior.
• Recognize priorities for care needs and follow RN guidance to re-prioritize.
• Restock supplies; assist with room preparation and turnover.
• Identify patient needs and provide necessary supplies.
• Promote cost containment and continuous improvement in practice.
• Ensure patient rooms and nursing station are clean and maintained daily.
• Provide encouragement and comfort to patients and families.
• Assist with transporting patients for procedures.
• Perform other tasks to support efficient practice and quality care.
• Greet and welcome patients, families, and visitors; communicate information about NCH services.

Collaborates with the healthcare team and provides compassionate and empathic family-centered care for the patients and families. Works under the supervision of a RN and in accordance with the hospital policies and procedures.

• Performs vital signs, heights, weights, head circumference & other measurements and records the results in the Electronic Health Record according to nursing and hospital policies & procedures. F: Daily/ T: 5-15 minutes per patient R: Individual
• Informs RN of pertinent information and/or communications all significant changes in patient condition or behavior. F: Daily/ T: 5-10 minutes R: Individual
• Recognizes accepted priorities for care needs and takes direction for re-prioritizing from the RN. F: Daily/ T: ongoing R: Individual
• Restock supplies such as gloves, gowns, linen, medical equipment, assists with room preparation and turnover. F: Daily/ T: 5-30 minutes per room R: Individual

Minimum Job Requirements

• CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant or EMT/Paramedic - active licensure in the State of Florida - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
• American Heart Association BLS maintain active and in good standing throughout employment

• High school education or equivalent preferred.
