Job summary

Allina Health is seeking a Cath Lab professional to join our cardiovascular team in Minnesota. You will assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional procedures, operate lab equipment, and ensure a safe, sterile environment for patients.

Responsibilities include monitoring EKG and vital signs, documenting data, and performing quality control. Requires relevant cardiovascular tech education and certification, with on-site shift for 80 hours per two weeks.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Vocational degree in Cardiovascular Technology is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in life, physical science, or health care related field; or EMT certification is required.

Responsibilities

  • Operate laboratory equipment per guidelines and perform quality control.
  • Maintain a safe, sterile environment during procedures and assist physicians.
  • Assist physicians in monitoring and mapping and in diagnostic/interventional procedures.
  • Ensure patient and staff safety and follow radiation safety practices.
  • Take on other duties as assigned.

Job description

Medium Work*:

Bring your passion and interest for Cardiovascular to our Cath Labs where our cohesive teams work all together better to serve our patients when they need us most. Your attention to detail and ability to be responsive to the care of our patients while working together with other Care Team members of the Cath Lab team will be vital to success. Work amongst a robust team including talented Physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, Registered Nurses, and more towards the well-being of our patients.

Assists physician during diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular, electrophysiology or peripheral vascular procedures, including circulating, scrubbing, monitoring and hemodynamic monitoring/recording. Follows department policies to maintain a safe, efficient environment while caring for the patient.

Principle Responsibilities
  • Effectively operates laboratory equipment
    • Prepares and operates equipment within department, manufacturer and federal guidelines.
    • Performs quality control and basic troubleshooting as needed.
    • Promptly reports all equipment problems to appropriate source.
  • Performs scrub role activities
    • Ensures a safe and sterile environment for the patient.
    • Practices aseptic technique, maintains sterile field and reports/corrects any breaks in sterile technique.
    • Prepares the equipment and competently assists the physician during the procedure.
    • Understands the anatomy and physiology of the conduction system, and associated intra cardiac electrocardiographic signals.
  • Assists physicians in monitoring/circulator role
    • Detects and responds to changing patient conditions, observing EKG, blood pressure, and other electrograms.
    • Performs complete diagnostic and provocative pacing protocols under the direction of the physician.
    • Differentiates basic and complex arrhythmias and assists in mapping.
    • Records, compiles and enters patient data accurately into electronic medical record and image retrieval system.
  • Ensures safe environment for patients and staff
    • Protects self and others from injury by using equipment per manufacturer and department guidelines.
    • Uses transfer lifts, transport equipment and body mechanics to protect from injury.
    • Practices good habits of radiation safety.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate's or Vocational degree of accredited Cardiovascular Technology program or
  • Bachelor's degree in life, physical science, or health care related field; or EMT certification
Preferred Qualifications
  • 0 to 2 years in Cardiovascular Lab or Electrophysiology
Licenses/Certifications
  • Must meet at least ONE of the requirements below:
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • BLS certification from the American Red Cross
  • Allina in-house BLS training (within 30 days of hire)
  • Must meet at least ONE of the requirements below if working at United Hospital:
  • Current ACLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • Current ALS certification from the American Red Cross
  • Allina in-house ACLS training (within 180 days)
  • Registered Invasive Cardiovascular Technology preferred within 1 year
Physical Demands
  • Medium Work*:
  • Lifting weight up to 32 lbs. occasionally (Allina Safe Patient Moving Policy), up to 25 lbs. frequently
  • 1.0 FTE (80 hours per two-week pay period)
  • 10-hour day/evening shift
  • On-call
Pay Range

Pay Range: $37.29 to $49.24 per hour

The pay described reflects the base hourly pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
