Job summary

Ascension is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to lead the immediate post-operative management of cardiac and thoracic surgery patients in an inpatient setting across Carmel and Indianapolis. The role emphasizes high-acuity bedside care and a collaborative team approach under a nonprofit health system.

The position requires Master’s in Nursing, board certification/eligibility, Indiana licensure, and DEA registration, with CME support and full-time night shifts (7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.).

Qualifications

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Advanced Practice Provider.
• Eligible for state medical licensure and DEA registration.
• Master's degree of Nursing required.
• Indiana NP prescriptive authority credentialing within 6 months of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Lead immediate post-operative management of cardiac and thoracic surgery patients, ensuring safe recovery and transition to ICU/step-down units.
• Deliver high-acuity medical treatments and bedside care within a collaborative team model.
• Work in an inpatient setting across Carmel and Indianapolis.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated advanced practice provider to join an employed position within a busy, well-respected practice, supported by a strong referral base and the full resources of a robust health system network.

• Join an established team of 12 APPs
• Call structure: None
• Schedule: Nights - 3 on and 6 off - (3) 12-hour shifts - 7:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m. followed by (6) shifts off. Rotated among a team of 6 APP's covering 2 locations with 1 APP assigned to each location for every 7:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m. shift.

• Lead the immediate post-operative management of cardiac and thoracic surgery patients, providing critical interventions that ensure a safe and stable recovery during the transition to the ICU and step-down units.

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Nurse Practitioner specializing in Prescriptive Authority credentialed from the Indiana Board of Nursing obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Indiana Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
