Job summary

Echovascular Lab in Columbia, SC is seeking a PRN Echocardiography/vascular technologist who can schedule, perform, and process echo and vascular ultrasound examinations. The role requires certification readiness and ability to work on-call to support after-hours service.

Minimum education is a high school diploma; CPR certification is required or obtained within 3 months. Registry eligibility in echocardiography or vascular technology is expected with registry obtained within 90 days of hire.

  • Registry eligible (ARDMS or CCI) in Echocardiography and/or Vascular Technology; must obtain registry within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Performs invasive and non-invasive echo and/or vascular procedures.
  • Assesses cardiac anatomy and disease states.
  • Obtains patient history related to cardiac/arterial conditions.
  • Performs brief physical exam related to cardiac/vascular conditions.
  • Evaluates patients to determine appropriate testing.
  • On-call availability for after-hours service.
  • Maintains equipment and reports malfunctions.

Required Certifications/Licensure:

Certified in CPR or certified within 3 months of employment;

Registry eligible (ARDMS or CCI) in Echocardiography and/or Vascular Technology. Must obtain registry in either Echocardiography or Vascular Technology within 90 days of hire date.

Required Training:

Successful completion of formal or occupational training specific to either echocardiography and/or vascular sonography;

Possesses excellent understanding of medical terminology

Essential Functions
  • Performs invasive and non-invasive echo and/or vascular procedures.
  • Possesses excellent understanding of normal and abnormal cardiac anatomy in relation to the cardiovascular disease process and/or arterial and venous system (pathology, morphology).
  • Obtains a brief history that applies to cardiac disease states and/or arterial/venous diseases states.
  • Performs a brief physical exam that applies to cardiac disease states and arterial/venous disease states.
  • Clinically evaluates patients and determines the level of appropriate testing.
  • Administers echocardiogram image enhancement agent as indicated.
  • Recognizes symptoms of cardiovascular distress.
  • Uses all current equipment that requires considerable experience, judgement and concentration.
  • Available for on-call duty in order to maintain after hours service.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Participates in a continuous quality improvement program.
  • Participates in education programs and in-services for departmental personnel.
  • Participates in continuing education by reading journals, attending workshops and seminars.
  • Performs routine preventive maintenance and calibration procedures on all pertinent equipment.
  • Reports equipment malfunctions and maintains a record of these events.
  • Maintains professional rapport with the Medical Director, Medical Staff and Cardiovascular Staff.
  • Works independently with little or no direct supervision.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned or as required by circumstances.
