Job summary

The Trinity Health Cath Lab in Boise, Idaho is seeking a skilled Radiologic Technologist or RCIS/RRT to join our regional team. You will scrub, monitor, and circulate in procedures ranging from diagnostic catheterizations to complex coronary interventions, with emphasis on patient safety and efficient care.

Eligible candidates will hold ARRT RT, RCIS, or NBRC RRT certification and have BLS; prior cath lab experience is preferred and cross-site coverage may be required between Boise and Nampa

Qualifications

  • Must be ARRT RT, RCIS, or NBRC RRT registered.
  • Prior hospital cath lab or Radiology department experience preferred.
  • Basic Life Support certification required at hire.
  • Additional SAHS certifications may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Scrub, monitor, and circulate in cath lab and assist with medications as directed.
  • Prepare and administer contrast agents and monitor for allergies.
  • Document care with accuracy and promote safety for staff and patients.
  • Communicate patient status and care plans to the team.

GENERAL SUMMARY AND PURPOSE

Performs duties in Cath Lab related to the following procedures: diagnostic right and left heart catheterizations, pacemaker /ICD insertion, coronary interventions including balloon pump insertion, PTCA’s, Atherectomy (Laser and Rotablator ), Stent, IVUS, myocardial biopsy, peripheral angiography and interventions , pericardiocentesis , and other cardiology procedures as assigned . Function s as a member of the Regional Cath Lab Team to provide a safe, efficient environment . May require orienting, travel, working and call coverage between Boise and Nampa Cath Lab departments as needed. Maintain s accurate and complete documentation of care provided. Serve s as patient advocate. Utilize s resources wisely while promoting physical, spiritual, and emotional well-being.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Must have one of the following:
  • Registered as a Radiologic Technologist (RT) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT),
  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), or
  • Registered as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT ) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Prior experience as a staff member in a hospital cath lab or Radiology Department (Special Procedures) preferred .
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is required at hire in all units, unless currently certified in ACLS and/or PALS as defined in the SAHS Certification Crosswalk.
  • Other certifications may be required as identified in the SAHS Certification Crosswalk.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Organization's Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions .
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills to competently care for all assigned age groups (Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric as applicable).
  • Revenue Management: e nsures the accuracy of documenting services and supplies provided to the patients.
  • Demonstrates compliance with hospital safety policies and procedures.
  • Performs all duties in the cath lab including scrubbing, monitoring, and circulating, which includes preparing and administering medications as directed by physician (Boise Only), performing and understanding digital imaging including dose and ensuring proper protection of staff and patient, ECG and Hemodynamic monitoring.
  • Prepares and assists in administering contrast agents by monitoring dosages and determining any potential allergies ensuring compliance with department policies and procedures.
  • Anticipates and responds accordingly to needs of physician and patient.
  • Communicates clearly with patients the purpose and extent of procedures.
  • Contributes to the comprehensive physical and psychosocial assessments.
  • Participates in education of the patient based on assessed needs.
  • Contributes to development and implementation of elements of a plan of care based on patient's needs.
  • Communicates patient's current status and plan of care to other caregivers (verbally and in writing).
  • Prepares, administers and evaluates the effectiveness of medications (Boise Only).
  • Demonstrates safe operation of patient care equipment.
  • Advocates for the rights of patients.
  • Collaborates with patients to provide nursing measures to alleviate or reduce pain.
  • Demonstrates therapeutic communication.
  • Establishes therapeutic and professional boundaries.
  • Integrates knowledge, experience, professional standards and hospital policies into practice.
  • Meets unit specific technical skills.
