Job summary

Grand Strand Medical Center – HCA in Myrtle Beach, SC seeks an experienced Registered Nurse in the perioperative setting to evaluate patients prior to surgery, educate families, and coordinate preoperative care.

You will prepare patients, participate in site verification procedures, respond to emergencies, and deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care as part of a multidisciplinary team. An emphasis on continuous improvement and leadership is evident throughout the role.

Qualifications

• RN licensed to practice nursing in the applicable state.
• BCLS certification required or instructor certification obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.
• Strong communication and collaboration with surgical team.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process.
• Prepare patients including IV therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification (briefing, time-out, debriefing, universal protocols).
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while applying evidence-based practices and continuous improvement.
• Be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team.
• Apply nursing process, critical thinking, and leadership to deliver safe care.
• Assess patient condition, monitor during shift, document changes and care provided.
• Educate patients and families about medical condition, treatment, and follow-up.
