Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health in New Jersey is seeking a Nurse Practitioner for the Physician Enterprise Group. The NP will function as an independent care provider collaborating with medical/surgical staff, performing comprehensive health assessments and managing acute and chronic conditions.

Responsibilities include patient histories, exams, orders, progress notes, and education. The role requires NJ NP licensure, MSN, ACLS, and daily rounds with the MDT to coordinate care.

Qualifications

• Licensed Registered Nurse in New Jersey
• Certified Nurse Practitioner in New Jersey
• Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited program, ACLS certified
• Performs daily rounds and discusses plan of care with MDs and multidisciplinary team

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient histories and perform physical examinations
• Write admitting orders, routine orders, and daily progress notes
• Assess and manage common health problems
• Order and evaluate diagnostic tests (radiology, labs, ECGs)
• Prescribe pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments
• Educate patients and families on disease processes and health promotion
• Document patient teaching and progress
• Refer and communicate abnormalities to the medical director
• Perform clinical procedures in addition to RN functions
• Remove invasive drains, lines, and catheters; debridement of wounds; arterial blood gases
• Serve as a resource for nursing staff on patient and disease management
• Ensure practices comply with PRO-NJ and JCAHO requirements
