Job summary

Baylor Scott and White The Heart Hospital – Grapevine is seeking a Cardiovascular (CV) Tech to support the Invasive Cardiology department. Responsibilities include scrubbing for arteriograms/catheterizations, assisting with radiographic procedures, and ensuring room readiness and patient monitoring.

On-call shifts are required and ACLS/BLS certifications are needed. Preferred candidates have hospital experience in procedural settings (IR/EP/Cath Lab) and Florida?

Qualifications

• EDUCATION - HS Diploma/GED Equivalent
• EXPERIENCE - Less than 1 Year of Experience
• CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION - Basic Life Support (BLS) and ACLS (must obtain ACLS within 30 days of hire or transfer)

Responsibilities

• Helps Physicians with arteriograms/catheterizations and pacemaker implantations.
• Prepares room and equipment; assists with radiographic procedures.
• Transports and monitors patients; monitors ECG and vital signs.
• Performs pre- and post-procedure care and data documentation.
• Ensures radiation safety and proper inventory of supplies.

Position: CV Tech

Shift: Full-time day shift | Four 10hr shifts per week | 4-5 call shifts per month, one weekend call shift every 6-7 weeks

Call Requirements: STEMI and On call required (varied per location)

Preferred Requirements: Prior hospital experience in a procedural setting (IR, EP, or Cath Lab) and certification in one of the following: RCIS, RCES, or ARRT R.

Job Summary

The Cardiovascular Invasive Technician is accountable to surgically scrub in and help with equipment. Helping the Cardiovascular Invasive Specialists with radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures is a secondary assignment. Prepares room and equipment, transports and monitors patients. May handle medications in accordance with responsibilities.

Essential Functions Of The Role

• Helps Physicians with arteriograms/catheterizations, permanent pacemaker implantations, diagnostic and interventional, peripheral and coronary, interventional and thrombolytic therapy.
• Related duties include: preparing and maintaining sterile fields for lab procedures; printing film and calculating stenosis on peripheral cases; circulating in procedure rooms and collecting data on forms; monitoring patient's ECG and vital signs in the Catheterization Lab; notifying the Physician of variances; providing emergency procedures like CPR and defibrillation as needed.
• Performs pre-and post-procedure care. Monitors and orients patients for specials/catheterization procedures.
• Answers related questions to make patient relaxed. Transports patients to and from procedural area.
• Communicates relevant medical information to physicians and other staff through required documentation on specified medical record forms.
• Records, enters into data computer and calculates catheterization data, gradients, LV grams, cardiac outputs, and peripheral stenosis.
• Follows national and state radiation protection regulations for patients, self and staff.
• Maintains inventory of and orders procedure room supplies. Ensures procedure rooms are adequately stocked and equipment is safe to use.

Key Success Factors

• One (1) year clinical experience preferred.
