Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist to assist physicians during catheterization and electrophysiology procedures, prepare rooms and equipment, and monitor patient condition. You will contribute to training, quality control, and data collection for cardiovascular cases.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or two years of qualifying cardiovascular lab experience.
  • Availability for on‑call response requirements as per facility policy.
  • Knowledge and ability to apply complex invasive cardiac and vascular techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Assist physicians with arteriograms, catheterizations, pacemaker implantations, implantable cardioverter defibrillators, and various diagnostic and interventional procedures.
  • Follow radiation protection regulations for patients, self, and staff; provide emergency care such as CPR and defibrillation.
  • Perform pre‑ and post‑procedure care and monitoring.
  • Orient patients for catheterization or electrophysiology procedures and answer questions to ensure they remain calm.
  • Monitor patient’s ECG, pressures, temperature, and impedances in the electrophysiology lab; notify physicians of variances.
  • Assist with running RF/Cryo ablation systems, 3D mapping, and record procedural documentation.
  • Manage and maintain imaging data for cardiac and peripheral cases.
  • Assist in procedure rooms and collect quality data on appropriate forms.
  • Gather catheterization data and prepare procedure reports.
  • Prepare and maintain sterile fields for laboratory procedures.
  • Order and maintain inventory of procedure room supplies; ensure rooms are adequately stocked and equipment is current.
  • Coordinate and audit resources during yearly inventories.
  • Perform routine calibration and maintenance of complex equipment; notify team members for repairs.
  • Help orient and train new staff and students or perform additional duties as directed.
  • Oversee quality control monitoring such as NPSG auditing and performance improvement initiatives.

Job Summary

The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist assists physicians during catheterization and electrophysiology laboratory procedures, prepares rooms and equipment, instructs patients, monitors patient condition, and provides routine and emergency care. The role also contributes to training of team members and participates in quality control initiatives.

Essential Functions Of The Role
  • Assist physicians with arteriograms, catheterizations, pacemaker implantations, implantable cardiac defibrillators, and various diagnostic and interventional procedures.
  • Follow national and state radiation protection regulations for patients, self, and staff; provide emergency care such as CPR and defibrillation.
  • Perform pre‑ and post‑procedure care and monitoring.
  • Orient patients for catheterization or electrophysiology procedures and answer questions to ensure they remain calm.
  • Monitor patient’s ECG, pressures, temperature, and impedances in the electrophysiology lab; notify physicians of variances.

  • Oversee certain quality control monitoring, such as NPSG auditing, turnaround times, and performance improvement initiatives on a daily, monthly, or quarterly basis.
  • Participate in governance activities, departmental or professional committees, and LEAN initiatives.
  • Transport patients to and from the procedural area.
  • Demonstrate strong customer service skills.
Key Success Factors
  • Education and/or experience: Associate’s degree in a related field; completion of a US military training program with equivalent experience; or two years of related cardiovascular lab experience.
  • Availability for on‑call response requirements as per facility policy.
  • Knowledge and ability to apply complex invasive cardiac and vascular techniques.
  • Understanding of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology.
Qualifications
  • Education – Associate’s degree or two years of qualifying work experience.
  • Experience – Less than one year of specific experience required.
Certification / License / Registration
  • ACLS: Completion within 30 days of hire or transfer.
  • BLS: Completion within 30 days of hire or transfer.
  • ARRT‑R Radiography, Cert Cardiac Device Spec (CCDS), Cert EP Specialist (CEPS), Medical Radiologic Tech (MRT), Reg Cardio Electrophysiology (RCES), and Reg Cardiovascular Invasive Spec (RCIS): Must meet at least one of the following – ARRT‑R with MRT through TX Medical Board; Cardio Invasive Spec (RCIS); Reg Cardiac Electro Spec (RCES); Cert Electro Spec (CEPS); or Cert Cardiac Device Spec (CCDS).
