Albany Medical Center in New York is seeking a skilled Physician Assistant to join our Cardiothoracic Surgery team, with duties across inpatient care and multidisciplinary coordination.

You will provide ICU care for cardiac patients, assist in CT surgery, perform bedside procedures, participate in rounds, and collaborate with surgeons, intensivists, and other clinicians to achieve excellent patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited PA program with current NCCPA certification.
• Active state PA license and prescriptive authority.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a surgical or hospital-based acute care setting (CT Surgery experience preferred).
• Skilled in ICU management and invasive bedside procedures.
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and medical-surgical care.

Responsibilities

• Provide care to critically ill patients in the Cardiothoracic ICU.
• Serve as first and second assist in cardiothoracic surgical procedures.
• Perform bedside procedures (thoracentesis, chest tube placement, pacing wire removal).
• Manage preoperative, perioperative, and postoperative care; conduct rounds and write progress notes.
• Collaborate with surgeons, intensivists, anesthesiologists, and clinical teams to ensure high-quality outcomes.
