This night-shift role offers professional autonomy with strong physician support, caring for post-operative cardiac and thoracic surgery patients in the ICU and inpatient wards. The schedule is night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM with 168 shifts annually and a predictable monthly pattern, backed by comprehensive

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an accredited NP or PA program.
• Current or eligible SD NP/PA licensure; NCCPA or NP national certification.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications; ICU or critical care experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage 3–6 critically ill post‑operative cardiac patients in the ICU overnight.
• Provide care for 10–15 cardiothoracic inpatients on the ward each night.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and ongoing monitoring.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, laboratory studies, and imaging.
• Develop and implement treatment plans with surgeons and intensivists.
• Communicate effectively with nursing staff, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
• Facilitate smooth patient handoffs to the daytime care team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Respond promptly to changesin patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions.

• Develop and implementtreatment plans in collaboration with surgeons and intensivists.
• Perform procedures andclinical interventions within scope of practice and hospital privileges.
• Communicate effectively withnursing staff, physicians, and multidisciplinary care teams.
• Ensure accurate and timelydocumentation in the electronic medical record.
• Facilitate smooth patienthandoffs to the daytime care team.

Requirements:
