Job summary

Piedmont Macon Medical Center is seeking a BC/BE Cardiothoracic Surgeon to support a high-volume, complex cardiovascular program. The position offers the opportunity to join a nationally recognized team providing robust cardiovascular options.

• Graduate of an accredited school of medicine.
• Completion of Cardiothoracic Fellowship.
• Board Certification in Thoracic Surgery (must be current).

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, treat, and perform surgeries for congenital and acquired heart and great vessel conditions.
• Provide non-surgical and perioperative care (pre-, intra-, post-operative).
• Hold admitting privileges and coordinate care for patients in critical care settings.
• Assess, stabilize, and determine disposition of emergent cardiac patients.
• Manage chronic cardiovascular diseases with appropriate imaging/tests and treatment plans.
• Collaborate with hospitalists, primary care, cardiology and other specialists to improve quality and patient satisfaction.

Are you looking to work at a Nationally recognized Best Places to Work? Here at Piedmont Heart Institute, we are looking for a BC/BE Cardiothoracic Surgeon for our Piedmont Macon location. We are looking for a team member to support a high volume, complex, patient care program that will provide excellent service with outcome-driven robust cardiovascular options.

Ideal candidate will be able to perform all the following surgeries including, but not limited to:

• Evaluation, diagnosis, treatment/surgery and consultation for patients with congenital and acquired abnormalities of the heart and great vessels, lungs, mediastinum, and pleura; a variety of conditions of the chest wall; and traumatic injuries to the chest and cardiothoracic structures.
• Non-surgical care as well as pre-, intra-, and post-operative surgical care.
• Admitting privileges to the facility and support provisions of care for patients in critical care/intensive care settings in accordance with Piedmont Augusta policies and procedures.
• Assess, stabilize, and determine the disposition of patients with emergent conditions in accordance with medical staff policy.
• Management of chronic cardiovascular diseases including ordering appropriate imaging or lab tests and recommending treatment plans, including surgical interventions, as indicated by patient’s clinical needs.
• Coordination of care with hospitalists, primary care physicians, cardiology colleagues and other specialty physicians regarding day-to-day operations and participates in meetings for risk and quality management as well as improving clinical quality, efficiency, and patient satisfaction.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited school of medicine
• Completion of Cardiothoracic Fellowship and MUST BE Board Certified in Thoracic Surgery
