Ideal candidates will have a CT surgery background with competency in bypass and valve procedures. Iowa license (IMLC at minimum) is highly preferred and the hospital supports a dedicated APP team.

About the Facility

Iowa license in hand a huge plus (needs to have IMLC at a minimum). This hospital-based facility maintains established clinical infrastructure and protocols to support coordinated locum tenens cardiothoracic surgery coverage across inpatient, operating room, and emergency room settings. The facility is seeking coverage for a surgeon's leave in early 2027 as well as ongoing weekend call relief, and provides on-site resources necessary to facilitate continuity of care throughout each assigned period. A department APP team of three is available to support clinical operations during the assignment.

The cardiothoracic surgeon will serve on beeper call for emergent cases and will conduct inpatient rounding throughout each assigned coverage period. Call coverage is structured as solo call while on assignment, spanning inpatient, operating room, and emergency room settings on an on-site basis. The clinician must demonstrate competency with coronary bypass, aortic valve, mitral valve, thoracic, and aortic dissection procedures.
