Job summary

LewisGale Medical Center invites an accomplished cardiothoracic surgeon to lead and grow its cardiothoracic surgery program in Roanoke, VA. This full-time role offers a competitive salary and opportunities for leadership within a renowned regional health system.

The candidate will perform and supervise complex cardiac procedures, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and contribute to program development and patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Board Certified or Board Eligible.
• 5+ years of experience preferred.
• Experience with heart bypass surgery, valve repair/replacement (including open and endovascular aortic procedures).
• Structural Heart Experience (TAVR, LAAC) preferred.
• Minimally invasive lung surgery experience preferred.
• Knowledge of advanced technologies to reduce invasiveness of thoracic and cardiovascular procedures preferred.
• Capable of doing complex cases in independent setting.
• Leadership opportunity available, if desired.
• 1:2 call schedule.

Responsibilities

• Shape and grow the cardiothoracic surgery program.
• Provide leadership and collaboration with surgical teams.
• Perform and supervise cardiothoracic procedures as required.
• Develop and implement protocols to improve patient outcomes.
• Engage in program development and outreach within the region.
• Collaborate with hospital leadership to align resources with growth goals.
• Mentor junior surgeons and clinicians.
• Manage and participate in a 1:2 on-call schedule.

*Salary Estimate: $606,658 - $1,112,208 / year

Qualified Candidates:

• Board Certified or Board Eligible
