Job summary

The Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center, part of the Veterans Health Administration, seeks a Physician Assistant to join the LVAD and Advanced Heart Failure program within the Cardiothoracic Surgery Section. The PA will collaborate with cardiac surgeons, advanced heart failure cardiologists, nursing staff, and the heart team to provide coordinated inpatient and outpatient care for Veterans.

Qualifications

• Education recognized by the U.S. Department of Education from accredited institutions.
• LVAD experience is desirable but not required.
• Strong interest in cardiovascular medicine and advanced heart failure.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Participate in comprehensive evaluation and longitudinal management of patients with advanced heart failure and LVADs.
• Perform focused histories and physical examinations and help develop diagnostic and treatment plans with supervising physicians.
• Participate in preoperative evaluation and preparation for durable mechanical circulatory support.
• Manage postoperative and inpatient LVAD care in collaboration with cardiac surgery and ICU teams.
• Provide outpatient follow-up for LVAD patients.
• Review lab data, ECGs, imaging, and hemodynamics within PA scope.
