Sentara RMH Medical Center in Harrisonburg, VA is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Cardiothoracic Operating Room team. This full-time, day-shift role includes required call and a $20,000 sign-on bonus for qualified candidates.

You will join a multidisciplinary CTOR team, provide scrub/circulator support, and help ensure safe, high-quality perioperative care. Candidate must live within 30 minutes of the hospital for call purposes; prior cardiac OR experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Active RN license required.
• 1 year OR experience preferred; cardiac OR experience ideal.
• CNOR certification preferred.
• Familiarity with sterile technique and instrument handling.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safe, sterile environment during cardiothoracic procedures.
• Assist surgeon and team with instruments and supplies.
• Perform surgical counts to ensure no instruments are left in the patient.
• Coordinate with surgical team for case flow and safety.
• Deliver patient-family centered perioperative care.

Full Time, Day shift with required call.$20,000 sign on bonus available for qualified candidates.Hours and call: Monday through Friday 6AM to 2:30PM and required call. Candidate must live within 30 minutes of the hospital for call purposes. Weekday call is 1430-0600 the following morning (2-3 per week)- Weekend call is 24 hours Saturday and Sunday twice a month.Department Overview:We are made up of two operating rooms and one hybrid OR. You will work with a multi-disciplinary team of Cardio-thoracic Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, Cardiovascular Technologists, and Physician Assistants. The CTOR surgical team is close knit and work with our Beacon award winning CCU staff for post-operative care. Training and precepting for those new to the Cardiac Operating Room is one on one with our well-trained staff offering best in class education. Responsibilities include managing surgical instruments, maintaining sterility and a sterile field, assisting the surgeon by providing necessary tools, performing surgical counts to ensure no instruments are left behind, and coordinating with the broader surgical team. Manages complex open heart and thoracic surgeries to include bypass surgery, valve replacement, aortic dissection repair, heart transplant, TAVR and open + minimally invasive thoracic cases.
