Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Teach and mentor residents and fellows in radiology.
  • Engage in academic activities including research and scholarly work.
  • Contribute to clinical missions at a high-volume academic medical center.

Cardiothoracic Imaging Radiology - Faculty Opportunities

University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) - Galveston, Texas UTMB opened in 1891 as the nation’s first public medical school and hospital under unified leadership. What began as one hospital and medical school building in Galveston is now a major academic health sciences center of global influence, with medical, nursing, health professions and graduate biomedical schools; a world renowned research enterprise; and a growing, comprehensive health system with hospitals on four campuses and a network of clinics.

The UTMB Department of Radiology invites applications from fellowship-trained, board-certified or board-eligible Cardiothoracic Radiologists to join our growing academic faculty. This is a rare opportunity to practice at a high-volume, technologically advanced academic medical center while contributing meaningfully to resident and fellow education, research, and the clinical mission of one of Texas’s most distinguished institutions. The Department welcomes candidates at all career stages, from early careerists seeking a strong academic foundation to experienced faculty ready to lead. UTMB is also able to assist foreign medical graduates in pursuing certification by the American Board of Radiology.

The Department of Radiology is a vibrant, collegial academic practice operating across 4 hospital campuses in the Houston/Galveston corridor. This department trains 8 diagnostic radiology residents per year and hosts multiple subspecialty fellowship programs, giving faculty meaningful daily opportunities for case-based teaching, mentorship, and educational engagement.

Educational Requirements & Experience
  • M.D. or D.O. degree.
  • Board Certification or Board Eligibility by the American Board of Radiology.
  • Fellowship training in Cardiothoracic Imaging and Certificate of added qualification in Cardiac CT.
  • U.S. Citizenship or Employment Authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Ability to obtain an unrestricted state of Texas Medical License.

Compensation: Salary is commensurate with Academic rank, experience and qualifications. UTMB offers $0 contribution health insurance plans for individual subscribers and very attractive PTO packages. In addition, UTMB offers an excellent retirement program and relocation allowance.
