Qualifications

Responsibilities

Description

The Cardioneuro Technician will perform cardiac diagnostic procedures and select neurodiagnostic procedures on inpatients as well as outpatients of all ages.

Essential Functions
  • Retrieving data.
  • Ability to navigate department software programs.
  • Faxing copies of diagnostic studies to physicians.
  • Scan and save test results.
  • File reports.
  • Stock and order supplies.
  • Obtain and distribute all electrocardiograms (EKGs) to/from appropriate locations.
  • Perform EKGs on all age groups per policy.
  • Set up Holter Monitors with a physician’s order per policy.
  • Download, process, and accurately scan Holter Monitor recording to prepare it for physician interpretation.
  • Set up cardiac event monitor with a physician’s order per policy
  • Perform quality cardiac stress test per policy via either exercise stress or lexiscan.
  • Ability to perform an Electroencephalogram (EEG) with a physician’s order per policy.
  • Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures. - Set up Home Sleep Apnea Testing (HSAT), as well as download results, and make available for physician interpretation.
  • Corrects billing mistakes; adds or removes charges as needed.
Other Duties
  • Participates in departmental and association wide informational meetings and in-services, including staff meetings, association-wide forums, and seminars as required.
  • Reviews department and association-wide policies and procedures, and acknowledges with signature annually. Works with the Director of Cardiopulmonary Services to develop and maintain policies and procedures as needed.

Abilities
  • Must be able to read, write, understand, and speak English.
  • This position requires operational knowledge of office equipment in the Cardiopulmonary department.
  • Operational knowledge of department specific equipment including: EKG machine, Holter monitors, Cardiac Event monitors, Stress Testing equipment, Electroencephalogram (EEG) equipment, HSAT equipment, and associated interfaces for the aforementioned technologies.
  • Able to utilize the facilities electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Must also be service oriented and have excellent computer, problem solving, customer service, organizational, multi-tasking, professional interpersonal, and time management skills, as well as telephone etiquette, and the ability to prioritize work.

Physical Demands

Exerts up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Physical demands are in excess of those of Sedentary work. Light work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree. Worker is exposed to extensive computer work.

Required Education and Experience
  • Completion of a qualified EKG class.
  • CPR BLS AED within 30 days of hire.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • 1 year of related experience.
OSHA Exposure Category:

Involves exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.

This is a safety sensitive position.
