Qualifications

• Graduated from accredited PA program (NCCPA).
• Current CA PA licensure and NCCPA certification.
• CPR (AHA) required.
• DEA license for schedule II drugs.
• Experience in cardiology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs physical examinations and updates patient history.
• Formulates a diagnosis and treatment plan as appropriate for patient needs.
• Orders ancillary services as appropriate to meet patient needs.
• Reviews diagnostic test results and follows up on abnormal results.
• Requests specialty consultation as approved by supervising physician.
• Provides patient education as appropriate.
• Provides treatments and procedures as appropriate.
• Assists in the clinical management of the patient and collaborates with clinic team.
• Counsels and educates patients to support treatment adherence.
• Notifies supervising physician for urgent transfer or referral.
• Documents patient care in a timely manner.
• Identifies high risk problems and transfers care to the appropriate physician.
• Collaborates with physicians on patient care issues.
• Seeks physician consultation when necessary.
• Participates in team conferences and data collection as needed.
• Ensures patient flow through clinic appointments.
