Job Description: Inpatient Non-Invasive Cardiologist

Our General Cardiology department is currently down by 3.0 FTE physicians, impacting critical services such as inpatient rounding, night and weekend call coverage, outpatient clinic coverage, and diagnostic reads (echo, stress, monitors, TEEs, EKGs). The reduction of 4.0 FTEs creates a gap in service coverage and increases stress on our team, staff, and patients.

Position Overview

We are seeking 1 Inpatient Non-Invasive Cardiologist, who may also need to cover some outpatient clinics if necessary.

Responsibilities

1. Provide inpatient non-invasive cardiology services from Monday 7:00 am to Friday 5:00 pm.
2. Share weekday night call coverage with HVG physicians, typically responsible for 3 overnight calls per week.
3. Assume weekend call starting at 5:00 pm on Fridays and cover any holiday shifts.
4. Interpret echocardiograms, stress echocardiograms, nuclear stress tests, TEEs, and perform cardioversions.
5. Provide outpatient clinic coverage Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at our Cambridge outreach location, including ambulatory patient visits and diagnostic lab coverage.

Additional Information

The team includes APPs who support the general cardiology services but do not support the inpatient locum physician.

The current general cardiology team consists of 7.0 FTE general cardiologists, along with specialists in interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, cardiothoracic surgery, and vascular surgery.
