Job summary

Nashville General Hospital in Nashville, TN is seeking a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner to provide comprehensive cardiology care. You will cover inpatient cardiology rounds, evaluate consultations, manage cardiovascular conditions, interpret ECGs and imaging, and coordinate discharge planning with supervising cardiologists.

In the outpatient clinic you will evaluate new and established patients, adjust medications, educate on disease management, and coordinate referrals to subspecialists.

Qualifications

• Master's or DNP from an accredited NP program.
• Current NP license with prescriptive authority.
• National Board Certification (AANP or ANCC).
• Current DEA registration (if applicable).
• BLS and ACLS certifications are required.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily inpatient cardiology coverage and rounding.
• Evaluate new cardiology consultations and follow hospitalized cardiovascular patients.
• Perform comprehensive cardiovascular assessments (history and physical).
• Diagnose and manage acute and chronic cardiovascular conditions.
• Order and interpret ECGs, echocardiograms, stress tests, labs, and cardiac imaging.
• Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans with supervising cardiologists.
• Coordinate discharge planning, med reconciliation, and transition of care.
• Evaluate and manage new and established cardiology patients in outpatient clinic.
• Prescribe and adjust medications within scope of practice.
• Educate patients on disease management, medications, and lifestyle changes.
• Coordinate referrals to electrophysiology, interventional cardiology, rehab, surgery, and others.
• Participate in pre/post-procedural care for catheterization, PCI, and related procedures.
• Educate patients on procedures, risks, benefits, and recovery expectations.
• Monitor post-procedural recovery and arrange follow-up care.
• Review labs/tests weekly; respond to patient portal messages and calls.
• Coordinate care with referring providers and participate in quality improvement.
