Job summary

DHR Health is seeking an Insurance Verifier for the Cardiology Group Shared at our McAllen facility. This role determines insurance eligibility and financial status by reviewing information via phone and online verification, coordinating with third-party payers on benefits, coverage dates, patient responsibility, referrals and authorizations.

The ideal candidate has a High School diploma, understands insurance benefits, and can communicate clearly with patients and providers.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Comprehensive understanding of insurance benefits, referral requirements, reimbursement and medical terminology.
• Ability to work with geriatric patients in a high-volume, fast-paced practice.
• Computer skills required with knowledge of Microsoft Office and internet.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
• Bilingual – English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as daily resource for questions from providers, management and staff.
• Monitor and verify benefits on accounts requiring referrals and authorizations daily.
• Assist billing staff with researching accounts with discrepancies to ensure payer reimbursement.
• Handle calls from patients, physicians, carriers and providers with questions on referrals/authorizations.
• Verify billing information and confirm in/out-of-network benefits and coverage limits.
• Reference ICD-9-CM/ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS as needed for referrals/claims.
• Input notes in patient accounting system clearly documenting benefits.
