Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Heart and Vascular Center in Winston-Salem, NC seeks a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join its Heart Failure Advanced Practice Provider team on inpatient service. • Order and interpret labs and procedures; explain procedures to patients.
• Participate in research projects and educate learners when possible.

The Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Heart and Vascular Center is a national leader in heart and vascular care, surgery and research. We house western North Carolina's only advanced cardiac care and transplant program. We were the first Chest Pain Center in the region to be accredited by the Society of Chest Pain Centers, and we have disease-specific certification by The Joint Commission in acute myocardial infarction (heart attack) and congestive heart failure. We have received the highest possible recognition for quality cardiac surgery from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons.

What You'll Do:

As a Heart Failure Advanced Practice Provider (APP), you will collaborate closely with our skilled attending cardiologists, alongside fellow cardiology APPs, and a compassionate team of dedicated cardiology nurses and staff. Focused primarily on Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant cases, this role offers an exciting avenue for participation in educational and scholarly activities, enriching our thriving academic clinical environment. With our unwavering support, we foster significant autonomy, nurturing your growth towards managing acute and chronic conditions with increasing expertise and confidence. Responsibilities include:

Able to review and interpret cardiac imaging reports, explain abnormal findings to patients, and work with supervising attendings to generate next diagnostic and therapeutic steps.

Manage and respond to incoming outpatient patient digital communications and phone calls.

Using medical decision-making skills to determine appropriate patient care plan.

Collaborates with medical team when needed for effective team-based care.

Order and interpret laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures. Explains the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient.

Procedural skills per department or practice guidelines.

The clinician functions under the regulatory mandate from their respective licensing organization (North Carolina Medical Board or North Carolina Board of Nursing) with departmental specific credentialing from the institution.

Physician Assistant (PA) Requirements:

• Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program; Master's Degree preferred
• Current North Carolina Medical Board Medical License, Certified by NCCPA
• Accepting new graduates, prefer two years of experience in a cardiovascular or heart failure care environment
• BLS and ACLS certification required

Nurse Practitioner (NP) Requirements:

• Graduation from accredited Nurse Practitioner Master's Program, Master's degree or higher required
• Current North Carolina Board of Nursing Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner license
• Board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by AANP or ANCC
• Accepting new graduates, prefer two years of experience in a cardiovascular or heart failure care environment
• BLS and ACLS certification required
