Job summary

Keck Hospital of USC is seeking an EKG Technician to perform non-invasive cardiac diagnostics, collect ECG data hospital-wide, and prepare studies for cardiologists. You will transport patients, maintain supplies, and ensure accurate documentation and billing. The role requires certification in EKG, BLS, and experience with 12-lead ECGs and lead placement.

Qualifications

• Req High School or equivalent.
• Certification in EKG required.
• Minimum 2 years in a hospital non-invasive cardiology lab performing 12-lead ECGs.
• Preferred experience with stress testing, Holter, and event monitors.
• Ability to place right-sided and posterior leads and perform serial 12-lead ECGs.
• Ability to interpret EKG tracings for pacemakers/AICDs and adjust settings accordingly.
• EKG Technician Certification from NHA or CCT Certification and BLS.
• LA City Fire Life Safety Training or obtain within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs technically adequate ECGs.
• Collects ECG data hospital-wide and ensures proper ECG billing.
• Transports patients to/from Cardiology.
• Prepares ECGs for cardiologist interpretation.
• Maintains and stocks ECG supplies.
• Reports critical values to licensed caregiver.
• Maintains courteous service relationships with patients and healthcare team.
• Ensures a clean, safe environment for patients.
• Responds to STAT ECGs per policy.
• Participates in department performance improvement projects.
• Provides age-appropriate care and works with cardiology team to ensure high-quality diagnostics.
• Documents charges and patient records accurately.
• Maintains department supplies and uses equipment properly.
• Performs high-level disinfection of TEE probes and equipment.
• Reports unusual values to attending cardiologist promptly.
