Albany Medical Center is seeking a skilled Physician Assistant to join our Cardiothoracic Surgery team, with responsibilities across inpatient care and multidisciplinary coordination. This full-time position offers a unique opportunity to work in a high-acuity surgical setting while also contributing to broader hospital-based medical care.

The PA will provide ICU coverage, assist in cardiothoracic procedures, manage preoperative to postoperative care, and participate in daily rounds and care

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited PA program with NCCPA certification.
• Active state PA license and prescriptive authority.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in surgical or acute care settings.
• Experience in ICU management and invasive bedside procedures.
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and medical-surgical care.
• Excellent clinical judgment, teamwork, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide care to critically ill patients in the Cardiothoracic ICU, including ECMO/Impella/IABP/CRRT.
• Assist in cardiothoracic surgeries and perform endoscopic vein/arterial harvesting.
• Perform bedside procedures such as thoracentesis, line placements, chest tube insertion/removal.
• Manage preoperative, perioperative, and postoperative care with consults and discharge planning.
• Conduct daily rounds, write progress notes, and lead care coordination.
• Collaborate with surgeons, intensivists, anesthesiologists, and clinical teams to ensure outcomes.
• Provide general inpatient medical management and orders per guidelines.
