Job summary

Dartmouth Health in Lebanon, NH seeks a Physician Assistant or APRN to join the Section of Cardiac Surgery. You will provide and coordinate care for patients pre- and post-operatively, including education and follow-up, in both outpatient and inpatient settings.

You will work four 10-hour shifts at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center with no night or weekend call. Opportunities to moonlight on the Cardiac Surgery service and participate in research with a Geisel School of Medicine appointment.

Qualifications

• BLS certification.
• Current NH PA or APRN license or eligibility.
• Successful completion of an approved PA/APRN program.
• 1–2 years of relevant experience preferred; willing to train the right candidate.

Responsibilities

• Provide and coordinate pre- and post-operative care and education.
• Evaluate elective, urgent, and emergent surgical patients in outpatient setting.
• Collaborate with surgeons; assist with patient evaluation and care planning.
• Manage in-basket tasks, triage referrals, and handle phone inquiries.
• Moonlight on the Cardiac Surgery service (ICU/floor coverage; experience required).

Job description

Dartmouth Health is pleased to announce an opening for a Physician Assistant in the Section of Cardiac Surgery. In this role, the APP will provide and coordinate care and education of patients and families prior to surgery, and while transitioning back to home, including post-operative follow-up. Work in the outpatient clinic setting provides opportunities to assist with the evaluation of elective, urgent, and emergent patients, both in coordination with the surgeons as well as an independent patient panel. Additional responsibilities include in basket management, triaging referrals, and fielding phone calls.

In addition, there are ample opportunities to be involved in research. A faculty appointment through Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth will be requested.

Position Requirements:
