Job summary

Rochester General Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Cardiac Step Down unit. The role supports both direct patient care and unit operations, with schedules rotating 7a-7p and 7p-7a, totaling 36 hours per week.

The position requires 18+ years of age, and preferably CNA certification, Nursing Fundamentals completion, or related health facility experience. Strong communication and teamwork are essential in this care-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Preferred: Nursing Fundamentals completion, CNA certification, or experience as a medical assistant/technician in a health related facility or participation in a Patient Care Technician training program.
• Associates degree preferred.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care & indirect activities to facilitate unit functioning.
• Participates as a member of the care delivery team.
• Provide safe and competent care for patients including nutrition, skin integrity, elimination & hygiene needs.
• Take patient vital signs including temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure and pain level.
• Demonstrates excellent communication skills and teamwork within the care delivery team.
• Assist with ambulation, feeding, transferring or lifting of patients.
• Assist with the admission, discharge and transfer of patients.
• May perform clerical duties including transcription & maintenance of patient charts.
• Assists patient with mobility such as sitting, standing, and walking.
