Job summary

Logan Health is seeking a skilled cardiac sonographer to perform echocardiography procedures within our cardiology department. The role emphasizes patient history review, image acquisition, data analysis, and timely communication with cardiologists.

Ideal candidates bring at least one year of adult echocardiography experience, strong anatomy knowledge, and solid teamwork and communication abilities to support high-quality patient care in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Current CPR required as applicable to assigned area(s).
• Comprehensive knowledge of cardiac anatomy and hemodynamics required.
• Graduation from an accredited school of Cardiovascular Sonography is preferred; however, candidates with equivalent education and substantial direct experience in cardiac sonography will be considered.
• Minimum of one (1) year adult echocardiography experience preferred.
• Possess knowledge and experience in all cardiac echo procedures preferred.
• Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently.
• Commitment to working in a team environment and maintaining confidentiality as needed.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
• Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed.

Responsibilities

• Accurately and efficiently performs cardiac echocardiogram procedures as outlined by department procedures and exam protocols.
• Obtains patient history, describes and responds to questions, and informs patient of when to expect results as applicable to assigned area(s).
• Participates in and coordinates patient care and flow. Provides for physical and psychological needs of patient during examination.
• Provides images, data analysis and patient comments to the Cardiologist for diagnostic interpretation.
• Maintains understanding of and follows current exam protocols.
• Maintains accountability to technologist competency and quality control standards.
• Assists with maintaining and ordering supply stock as directed.
• Maintains equipment and coordinates repairs and service as needed or directed.
• Assists with administrative duties as applicable to assigned area(s).

Schedule:

Logan Health operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.

PRN positions (also referred to as Casual, As Needed, or Per Diem) at Logan Health offer flexibility and are designed to provide coverage during busy periods, employee absences, and vacations, making them an excellent opportunity to support the team as needed. PRN employees can participate in a matching 401(k) plan and have access to the Employee Assistance Program. Additionally, they may qualify for hourly differential pay for certain shifts or hours, offering extra compensation based on department-specific scheduling needs. Pay rates and scheduling practices may vary by department.
