Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a PRN Cardiovascular Sonographer in the Diagnostic Cardiology department. You will perform diagnostic ultrasound exams, set up and adjust equipment, and ensure high-quality image submission to PACS in a fast-paced clinical setting.

The role requires BLS within 30 days and relevant sonography credentials with up-to-date certification. Work location is UAB St. Vincent's East, with comprehensive benefits and a commitment to patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider within 30 days of hire; American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• One or more of the following credentials must be obtained within 12 months: CCI Cardiographic Sonographer, RDCS/RTS, ARRT Radiologic Technologist (Radiography or Sonography) or VT/ARDMS RDCS credential.

Responsibilities

• Set up and adjust equipment and manually maneuver transducers to perform exams.
• Perform routine and complex ultrasound studies in cardiac and/or vascular imaging procedures.
• Ensure image quality, correct lead markers and patient data/history are submitted to PACS.
• Maintain safety standards and perform quality control procedures.
• Report equipment problems and ensure department is clean and orderly.

Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent with 2 years of experience or Associate’s degree required. Graduate of an accredited sonography program preferred.
