Job summary

VCU Health seeks a Cardiac Sonographer/Technologist to perform ultrasound imaging and related procedures under the guidance of licensed independent practitioners. You will select ultrasound frequencies and transducers, prepare patients, and maintain accurate records in a fast-paced clinical setting.

The role emphasizes patient safety, professional judgment, and education of students and staff, with essential on-site duties and standard scheduling expectations at VCU Health System.

Qualifications

• Certification by ARDMS or CCI for cardiac imaging (RDCS/RCS) is required.
• Basic Life Support certification is required.
• Graduation from an accredited sonography program or equivalent education.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations as ordered by a licensed practitioner.
• Determine appropriate transducers and settings for each study.
• Maintain patient records and ensure confidentiality.
• Provide patient education and comfort before and after procedures.
• Mentor students and learners in the clinical environment.
