Job summary

ECU Health Roanoke Rapids seeks a skilled Cardiac Sonographer/Echocardiographer to operate ultrasound equipment and acquire 2-D/3-D images of the heart for physician diagnosis.

Credentialing (ARDMS RDCS or RVT, or CCI-RCS) and BLS are required, with a high school diploma or higher and 5 years of cardiac/vascular sonography experience. Expect day shifts with weekend coverage; on-call is not required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (or higher).
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• ARDMS RDCS or RVT, or CCI RCS registration/certification.
• 5 years of experience as Cardiac and/or Vascular Sonographer.

Responsibilities

• Operate ultrasound equipment to obtain 2‑D or 3‑D images of the heart and its chambers for diagnostic purposes.
• Provide imaging services with weekend coverage as scheduled; day shifts are primary.
• Maintain required registrations/certifications and ensure accuracy of documentation in patient records.

Position Summary

A Cardiac Sonographer/Echocardiographer is a credentialed medical professional with academic and clinical experience to use imaging technology to help physicians diagnose heart problems in patients. They operate ultrasound equipment that provides moving 2‑D or 3‑D images of the heart and its chambers. The scope of practice includes those procedures, acts and processes permitted by law, for which the individual has received education, clinical experience and completed ARDMS‑ RDCS and/or RVT or CCI‑RCS registration, which is the standard of practice in Ultrasound.

Minimum Requirements

• High school or equivalent (or higher)
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current ARDMS (RDCS or RVT) or CCI (RSC) registration/certification
• 5 years of experience as Cardiac and/or Vascular Sonographer

• Weekend coverage and one day per week

• IMPORTANT: This position is listed as a Cardiac Sonographer I, but based on the minimum requirements that are met, the candidate of choice will be hired as a Cardiac Sonographer I, II, III or IV.
