Job summary

The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX seeks a Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer I to perform echocardiography procedures under supervision and deliver high-quality patient care. You will support transthoracic and stress examinations, ensure exam standards, and contribute to patient safety and satisfaction.

Responsibilities include image acquisition, data analysis, and billing, with duties extending to transesophageal support and equipment maintenance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited ultrasound program.
• 0+ years of experience in echocardiography or related field.
• Current American Heart Association (BLS) certification.
• Eligible for RDCS/RCS or certification within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Acquire, record, analyze, presentation and charging of echocardiography exams including transthoracic and stress procedures.
• Assist physicians with transesophageal procedures and maintain sterile technique.
• Operate Hospital and Cardiology Information Systems and Office software.
• Respond to patient needs with critical thinking regarding reactions to contrast media or medications as appropriate.
• Adhere to safety standards and departmental policies for quality and safety.
• Report near misses and input errors into the hospital safety system.
• Care for and maintain Echocardiography equipment.
• Use resources efficiently and minimize waste.

Education
