Job summary

Beacon Health System in Kalamazoo offers a full-time Cardiac Sonographer/Cath Lab Tech role in Diagnostic Cardiology. You will perform non-invasive cardiac ultrasound studies and support the echo lab under physician supervision, with emphasis on accuracy and patient care.

The position requires RDCS or RCS credentialing and experience with 2-D/3-D/M-Mode imaging, color Doppler, and cross-functional teamwork. Competitive benefits and ongoing professional growth are provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Continuing education in cardiac ultrasound or related coursework.
• Credentialing in RDCS or RCS with active registry status.
• Registry-eligible candidates may be considered with credentialing within 2 years.
• Basic EKG interpretation skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform Cardiac Ultrasound Tests: conduct 2-D, 3-D, M-Mode and color Doppler tests.
• Prepare patients for tests, explain procedures, and ensure comfort.
• Record imagery, perform calculations, and provide preliminary findings.
• Maintain and transport ultrasound equipment, ensuring cleanliness and functionality.
• Assist with scheduling and coordination of the echo lab and physician schedules.
• Apply knowledge of cardiac diseases to handle emergencies and notify physicians as needed.

Cardiac SonographerJob Responsibilities

What You Bring

As a Cardiac Sonographeryou bring knowledge of general anatomy and physiology, basic physical principles of ultrasound, basic mathematics, and medical terminology.You willknow detailed normal and abnormal cardiac anatomy.You’llknow cross sectional anatomy of all imaging planes, techniques for recording all sector images anddistinguishnormal from abnormal findings.The Cardiac Sonographerwillhave a thorough understanding of the anatomy and pathophysiology of cardiac disease processes and be able to deviate from standard techniques when necessary to extend the scope of the examinations appropriately toeliminateabnormalities.You willknow the function of equipment controls, techniques used in all types ofechocardiograms, andhave sufficient skill in the performance of these techniquesso as toproduce a complete anatomic and functional record for the physician to interpret.You’llbe competent in making quantitative calculations from Echo dataacquired.

Required Qualifications

High school diplomarequired.

Continuing education through college-level coursework and/or specialized technical training in cardiac ultrasound.

Credentialing required as one of the following:

Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) in adult and/or pediatric echocardiography through ARDMS, or

Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through CCI (Cardiovascular Credentialing International), with active registry status.

Registry-eligible candidates may be considered but must obtain required credentialing within 2 years of employment.

Basic EKG interpretation skills and knowledge of related cardiac testingpreferred.
