Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY

The Cardiac Sonographer II performs advanced heart ultrasound procedures to evaluate heart structures and blood flow. This role follows departmental protocols and organizational policies.

  • conducting detailed heart ultrasound exams to assess heart anatomy and function
  • analyzing ultrasound data to help diagnose heart conditions
  • ensuring high-quality images through careful technique
  • working with cardiologists and other healthcare professionals to provide diagnostic information
  • staying updated on new ultrasound techniques and technologies
  • operating and maintaining ultrasound equipment
  • educating patients while ensuring their comfort and safety during procedures
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Licensure/Certification: Graduate from an accredited Cardiac Sonography Program or equivalent education that meets the credentialing requirement pathway required

Knowledge/Experience: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) certification required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the Red Cross or American Heart Association required. Minimum 2 years of cardiac sonographer experience required. Ability to perform transesophageal Echocardiograms, stress echocardiograms, complex adult transthoracic echocardiograms, bubble studies, ultrasound enhancing agent studies, AV and VV optimization, and compose preliminary reports are all preferred skills to possess.

Skills: Written and verbal communication skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people. Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work. Working knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook), electronic health records (EHR), EPIC, and picture archive and communication system (PACS). Must be able to work independently, as well as part of a team, including accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions. Ability to physically transport echo machine throughout the hospital
