A well-established cardiac specialty practice in the Denver area is seeking an experienced Cardiac Sonographer to join its team. Job Summary
The Cardiac Sonographer will perform diagnostic echocardiographic examinations on adult patients, ensuring accurate, high-quality studies in accordance with established protocols and accreditation standards. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, excellent patient communication abilities, and experience working in a cardiac-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive adult echocardiography examinations using:
- 2D imaging
- 3D imaging
- M-mode
- Doppler
- Contrast echocardiography
- Strain imaging
- Review patient and physician notes prior to examinations to determine appropriate imaging techniques and protocols.
- Prepare patients for procedures and explain examinations clearly while addressing questions and concerns.
- Establish rapport with patients and help reduce anxiety during examinations.
- Produce accurate, high-quality diagnostic studies while maintaining established production standards.
- Organize and document examination data for physician interpretation.
- Create and complete echo reports using structured reporting within Epic.
- Communicate preliminary findings or relevant information to interpreting cardiologists as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate ultrasound supply inventory.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Follow all applicable clinical, safety, accreditation, and practice guidelines.
- Provide appropriate emergency assistance and patient support when needed.
- Maintain current professional knowledge through continuing education, workshops, publications, and professional organizations.
- Maintain required professional registry and credentials.
- Complete required monthly and annual competency assessments.
- Work collaboratively with physicians, sonographers, and other members of the healthcare team.
Required Qualifications
- RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer) through ARDMS or
- RCS (Registered Cardiac Sonographer) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
- Extensive training and experience in cardiac ultrasound/echocardiography.
- Current registry status required.
- Basic CPR certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Epic.
- Previous medical office or outpatient cardiology experience.
- Vascular ultrasound experience is a plus but not required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to assist and support adult patients during examinations and emergency situations.
- Ability to perform the physical requirements associated with echocardiography, including positioning and assisting patients as needed.
