Job summary

A leading healthcare organization in Ohio is seeking a Cardiac Sonographer to operate in the echocardiography lab. The successful candidate will be trained in echocardiography and must acquire BLS and RDCS certifications. Responsibilities include performing echocardiographic exams and contributing to departmental efficiency. A sign-on bonus of $5,000 is offered for eligible external hires.

Qualifications

  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or RCS required within 1 year of graduation from a Cardiovascular Technology Program.
  • RDCS or RCS required within 2 years from start date of cross-training.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a registry eligible sonographer in the echocardiography laboratory.
  • Perform echocardiographic exams and assist with department operations.

Skills

Basic knowledge of cardiac pathology
Basic knowledge of echocardiography fundamentals
Ability to learn to use echo machines
Basic computer skills
Good communication skills

Education

High School Equivalent / GED
Graduate of an approved Cardiovascular Technology Program

A Brief Overview

$5,000.00 sign on bonus for eligible external hires

This position serves as a registry eligible sonographer in the echocardiography laboratory and at the cardiology satellite offices. The cardiac sonographer I will be trained and must be willing to learn all aspects of an echocardiographic exam, have a basic knowledge of cardiac pathology/echo equipment and perform other duties as assigned. The cardiac sonographer I contributes skills to assist with an efficient operation of the department.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
  • For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
Education
  • High School Equivalent / GED (Required) and
  • Graduate of an approved Cardiovascular Technology Program (Required) or
  • Graduate of an approved Sonography Program with cross‑training in echocardiography (Required)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Basic knowledge of cardiac pathology; (Required proficiency)
  • Basic knowledge of the fundamentals of echocardiography (Required proficiency)
  • Ability to learn to use all types of echo machines; (Required proficiency)
  • basic computer skills; (Required proficiency)
  • good communication skills (Required proficiency)
Licenses and Certifications
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or RCS of graduation from an approved Cardiovascular Technology Program (Required within 1 Year) or
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or RCS within two years from the start date of cross‑training in echocardiography or working to fulfill clinical experience pre‑requisites for a credentialing examination (Required within 2 Years) and
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required)
