Job summary

The Ohio State University is seeking a Research Associate in the Surgery Cardiac Division to contribute to planning, design, execution and management of cardiac research projects in a foundational biology laboratory.

You will perform advanced molecular and cellular techniques, collect and analyze data, and assist in preparing manuscripts and grant proposals; coordinate lab activities and supervise trainees and staff. This is a 40-hour, on-site position in Columbus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate biological/health science or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
• 1-3 years of relevant experience required.
• Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic and/or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required.

Responsibilities

• Planning, design, execution and management of research projects in a foundational biological/health science lab.
• Performs advanced molecular and cellular techniques.
• Collects, analyzes and interprets research data.
• Assists in the preparation of research papers and manuscripts for publication and presentation at conferences.
• Assists principal investigator in preparing proposals to obtain new or renewal of extramural funding.
• Coordinates laboratory activities and work assignments of postdoctoral researchers, graduate and undergraduate students, and laboratory staff.
• Oversees maintenance and testing of laboratory equipment.
