Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
• Current registered nurse license in the State of Texas.
• Current BLS certification.
• ACLS certification required.
• Willingness to be crossed trained to other areas.
• Organizational skills are necessary.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Ability to communicate clearly with all levels of nursing, administration, and physicians.
• Prefer hospital experience.
• Prefer telemetry experience.

Responsibilities

• Promotes the facility mission, vision and values to others and incorporates them into services and practice.
• Ensures care is delivered to each patient per the Nurse Practice Act and ANA Standards of Clinical Nursing Practice.
• Performs nursing care with sound judgment.
• Implements physician orders safely and accurately.
• Assists with admitting, discharging and transferring patients.
• Transcribes and implements new physician orders.
• Maintains detailed and accurate nursing records.
• Provides health education and emotional support to patients and families.
• Makes rounds and prioritizes patient needs.
• Maintains a safe and clean environment for patients and coworkers.
• Delivers reports during shift changes.
• Provides direction to non-licensed staff in patient care.
