Job summary

IU Health is seeking a full-time Patient Care Technician (PCA) for its Adult Cardiothoracic Surgical Unit at Methodist Hospital. The PCA provides direct patient care, assists with daily living activities, mobility, meal ordering, and maintains a clean environment while ensuring patient safety.

The role requires BLS certification, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Must have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Experience in direct patient care and bedside assistance preferred.
• Ability to monitor patient status and report changes to RN.
• Strong communication and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and assist with activities of daily living.
• Assist with mobility, meals, hygiene, and daily living tasks.
• Obtain vital signs and report abnormalities to the RN or charge nurse.
• Maintain patient safety using gait belts and alarms.
• Keep patient surroundings clean and orderly.
