Job summary

Tampa General Hospital in Brooksville, FL is seeking a Cardiac Monitor Technician to monitor and interpret basic cardiac rhythms, support patient care, and document rhythm strips in accordance with policy.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and BLS certification; prior basic EKG training and demonstrated competency are expected. You will operate telemetry equipment, communicate critical rhythms to nursing staff, and maintain equipment readiness.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Accurately interprets changes in rhythms.
• Records rhythm strips as required.
• Communicates lethal arrhythmias to nursing staff and documents strips as requested.
• Maintains alarms on at all times with rates set safely to minimize false alarms.
• Identifies individual EKGs with proper patient identifiers.
• Works with the computer system and maintains flow through the ER and facilitates transfers, admissions and discharges timely.
• Answers telephone and intercom in a pleasant and professional manner and relays messages accurately and quickly.
• Reports any malfunction of monitoring equipment to Biomedical Technicians and Nursing leadership.

Cardiac Monitor Technician

Under general supervision, follows established policies, procedures, and professional guidelines. Responsible for monitoring and identifying basic normal cardiac rhythms, dysrhythmias, and lethal arrhythmias; reporting these findings to the appropriate personnel, and rhythm documentation and labeling per TGH policy. Promotes and maintains patient support including but not limited to: interprets and post rhythm strips and protocol, performs 12 lead EKGs. Maintain and clean portable telemetry monitors between patient use according to manufacturer's guidelines.

Essential Functions
