Job summary

Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC, is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support the Medical Intensive Care Unit. The role involves direct, hands-on patient care for cardiac and complex medical conditions, under supervision of RNs, LPNs, or other licensed professionals.

You will perform clinical tasks within the PCT scope, assist with ADLs, monitor vitals, document in the EHR, and ensure infection control. This is a full-time night shift in a premier academic medical center.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Active PCT certification by the DC Board of Nursing required.
• BLS certification (American Heart Association) required.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced team.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under supervision of RN/LPN.
• Assist with activities of daily living and transfers.
• Monitor patients and report vital signs and symptoms.
• Document care in the EHR accurately.
• Follow infection control protocols and PPE use.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary care team.
