Job summary

UCI Health, part of the University of California, Irvine, seeks a clinical nurse to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement a plan of care for a defined patient group. You will assess, plan, intervene and advocate for patients, and evaluate outcomes and discharge readiness while mentoring students and new staff as a PCC.

Qualifications include BSN, ICU experience, and at least 1 year in post-operative cardiac care, with the ability to work evenings, nights, weekends,

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years recent ICU nursing experience or completion of 6 month UC Irvine Medical Center Clinical Nurse I, ICU orientation on this specific ICU
• Minimum of 1 year of recent experience caring for immediate post-operative cardiac surgery patients
• All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement a plan of care for a specific group of assigned patients.
• Assess, plan, intervene and advocate for the patient throughout the continuum of care.
• Evaluate patient outcomes and readiness for discharge; revise plan or make referrals as needed.
• Mentor students and nurses new to the unit and function as a PCC when requested by supervisor/manager
