Job summary

Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore seeks an Advanced Practice Provider (PA or NP) to join the Heart and Vascular Institute, caring for pre- and postoperative high-acuity cardiac surgery patients on a neighboring ICU floor alongside ICU intensivists and cardiothoracic surgeons.

Schedule features 50/50 Day/Off shifts with opportunities for full-time nights or weekend options, including weekends, nights, and holidays. Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team is central to this role.

Qualifications

• Physician Assistant Certification from an Accredited Program.
• ICU and/or cardiac surgery clinical experience preferred.
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, and manage critically ill patients at ICU level in collaboration with the care team.
• Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans and monitor patient responses.
• Perform invasive procedures where applicable (e.g., central/arterial access, chest tube/pace wire care).
• Educate patients and families regarding condition, treatment options, and discharge planning.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds with ICU staff and cardiothoracic teams.
